The Challenge
With increasing competition from online retailers and big box stores, many optometrists were struggling to retain patients for eyewear purchases. Despite providing high-quality in-person services, practices were losing potential revenue to these competitors. The challenge was to create a solution that would combine the convenience of online shopping with the personal, expert care of local optometrists, making it easier for patients to discover and try on frames.
The Solution
We developed Eyecandi, a mobile app that allows patients to browse stylish frames available at local optometry offices. The app offers a user-friendly experience, including personalized style quizzes, a save-for-later feature, and the ability to book fittings at optometrist offices directly through the app. Eyecandi makes it simple for patients to explore a variety of frames in their area and set up appointments for professional, in-person fittings—all without the hassle of ordering and returning frames online.
The Results
Eyecandi launched successfully, providing optometrists with a new tool to engage patients and reclaim eyewear sales from large retailers. The app helped increase foot traffic and improve patient retention, with optometrists reporting higher engagement and more sales from in-office fittings. Patients appreciated the convenience of browsing frames at home while still benefiting from expert fittings, helping local optometrists regain a competitive edge.
